Leigh Anne Lester

Leigh Anne Lester was born in 1966 in Louisiana and studied at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and graduated from University of Texas in San Antonio in 1993. Her work has been nationally exhibited and she received $50,000 for the 2011 Hunting Prize Award for painting and drawing. Her most recent solo exhibitions have been at grayDUCK gallery, Austin, TX; Artpace, San Antonio, TX; International Museum of Surgical Science, Chicago, Il; Houston Arts Alliance Gallery, Houston, TX; McKinney Avenue Contemporary, Dallas, TX; Lawndale Art Center, Houston, TX; Conduit Gallery, Dallas, TX; Institute of Texan Cultures, San Antonio, TX and Southwest School of Art and Craft, in San Antonio, TX. She has also received a grant from the Artist Foundation in San Antonio and attended a residency at Ucross Foundation in Wyoming and is currently in residence at Kunstlerhaus Bethanien. Her work is in the permanent collections of Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and University of Texas, San Antonio. For 19 years she co-ran the launching pad for many of Texas’ most recognized artist, cactus bra SPACE. Leigh Anne Lester lives and works in San Antonio, TX .
